Is FictionAI's story generator free?
The Free plan lets you write up to 3 books with your own OpenRouter account, which bills you for AI use. Pro ($9.99/month) unlocks unlimited books, series and adult content.
What kinds of stories can the AI generate?
Any genre: 25 are listed with defaults (romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, science fiction, horror, historical and more) and you can type your own. Lengths run from a short story (~10k words) to an epic (~125k words).
How does the AI story generator work?
You pick a genre and write a pitch. One action builds the story bible (premise, title, world, cast, outline), you edit it, and then the workspace writes each chapter. The model comes from your Quality setting (Fast, Balanced or Best) or any OpenRouter model you choose in Settings → Advanced.
Is the AI-generated story original?
The text is generated for your premise, cast and outline; it is not copied from a stored book. Language models can still echo common phrasing and tropes, so read and edit before you publish. FictionAI claims no rights to what you write.
Can I edit the AI-generated story?
Yes. The manuscript is a normal editor with autosave. You can also rewrite a selection with an instruction, continue from the cursor, or revise a whole chapter. Assist results are proposals you accept or discard.
