Every generate action shows an estimate from OpenRouter’s current prices, and the actual cost when it finishes.

OpenRouter bills your account per use. Set limits and add funds there; FictionAI never holds a balance.

What is "Bring Your Own Key"?
FictionAI runs AI generation on your own OpenRouter account. You connect it in one click (or paste an OpenRouter API key), OpenRouter bills you directly for what you use, and FictionAI adds no markup. FictionAI charges only the plan price.
How much does AI generation cost?
It depends on the model. The Quality setting picks Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite (Fast), the latest Claude Sonnet (Balanced) or the latest Claude Opus (Best), and the app shows the estimated cost from OpenRouter’s current prices before every action and the actual cost afterwards. The home page lists a typical chapter’s cost at each setting.
Do I need a credit card for the Free plan?
Not for FictionAI: the Free plan needs no card. OpenRouter bills AI use to your OpenRouter account, so you add funds there.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?
Yes. Upgrade to Pro from Settings → Plan & usage, and manage or cancel the subscription from the same place.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Pro gives you unlimited books, unlimited series, and access to NSFW content generation. Free is limited to 3 books, no series, with no NSFW content.
