Questions
Is FictionAI really cheaper than Sudowrite?
It depends on how much you generate. FictionAI costs $9.99/month (or nothing on Free) plus what OpenRouter charges for the models you use, which FictionAI shows per generation. Sudowrite bundles AI use into its plans. Compare with your own usage.
Can I use the same AI models as Sudowrite?
FictionAI uses models through OpenRouter: Claude by default, and any other model OpenRouter lists (GPT, Gemini and more) if you pick it in Settings → Advanced. We do not know which models Sudowrite uses at any given time.
Does FictionAI support long-form novel writing?
Yes. Length presets go from a ~10k-word short story to a ~125k-word epic, with an outline of up to 36 chapters, and each chapter is written with the story bible and earlier chapters in the prompt.
How does BYOK work?
BYOK (bring your own key) means you connect your own OpenRouter account. OpenRouter bills you for each generation at its prices; FictionAI adds no markup and charges only its plan ($9.99/month for Pro).
Can I migrate my projects from Sudowrite?
There is no import tool. You can create a book in FictionAI and paste your existing chapters into the workspace editor.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan covers 3 books with no credit card. Pro removes the book limit and adds series and adult content.
